mail merge document on new computer

Whenever I opened a mail merge document on my old computer, after choosing
the SQL command, my document would open with the merge data ready to use. The
same files on my new computer opens at my data sources and I have to step
through the folders until I find my excel document. Both operating systems
are XP. Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Which versions of Word are on the two computers?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?cGtlZWdz?=,
Both machines are 2003
You may want to go with this to the more specialized word.mailmerge.fields
newsgroup. Your problem description isn't ringing any bells with me for a 2003<-
2003 combination. It sounds like the mail merge document isn't locating the data
source, though...

Is the file path exactly the same on both machines, or have the data files been
moved to a different file path on the new machine?

I seem to recall that there are problems with 2003 storing additional (machine-
specific) information for mail merge documents that hinders Word finding the data
source, even if it's in the same path. But I can't remember any details.
