mail merge in Publisher - can't access mail merge thru "TOOLS"

When I try to access the mail merge thru "TOOLS" - it's grayed out, I can't
get to it. The document I'm working on is a newsletter - a lot of graphics -
would that make a difference?

Shouldn't do. Is your publication a web publication?

Shouldn't make a difference what size your publication is...
The Mail Merge feature is unavailable in Publisher 2003 and in Publisher 2002

No, it's not a web publication. But I just discovered that having it set on
"spot color" thru the commercial printing tools was the culprit. When I
changed it back to "any color" it allowed access to the mail merge.
Evidently, the two don't mesh. Thanks for your response, however.

Why would this feature be removed? Is it coming back in the 2007 edition?

The feature isn't removed.

The original poster wondered why the merge was dimmed in her publication, the
link is for an article in the Knowledge Base that suggests a reason why.
