Mail Merge on Access in a workgroup

I have an Access 2000 Database that is part of a
workgroup which has users and passwords.

I am trying to do a mail merge in word 2002 from this
database but when I try to connect to a data source (I
select other/advanced from the list of items) I get an
error saying work group file can not be found.

To get around this problem before I have selected to
connect to a DDE datasource and this has worked but I can
no longer find way to connect to a DDE datasource.
How can I do a mail merge from a Database that is part of
a work group.

any help would be great.
