Mail Merge Slow Printing

T

Todd

I am using publisher 2002 on Win xp and doing a mail
merge newsletter with 700 entries to a Minolta Di350
printer/copier. The problem is the print job is very slow
to complete.

Publisher completes the merge, spools the job and the
printer memory waits to load the whole job into memory
until it starts printing. The printer properties on
spooling are to 'start printing immediately' and I have
tried the 'Print directly to printer' option as well.

This never happened on a win98 box with Publisher 2000.
Publisher 2002 on the same Win 98 box does the same thing
now. Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Todd, yes that is correct. Just make sure you use new reams of paper that
have been stored flat when you copy them, and bump them up neatly to
re-feed. In some cases we have been using this method with offset printed
material to merge data due to the inability or expense of doing it on an
offset press.

Just make a test first to make sure the merge aligns correctly before you
print the whole lot.
