mail merger

I am trying to mail merge a excel sheet into word 2000,
The amount feilds do not convert into the word document as
formatted in the excel sheet.
ex: $12.50
convert into word as 12.5.
NO formatting was present in the word document.
What is my solution?

I too am having the same problem except it goes the other
way. If my Excel sheet is formatted to 3 decimal places
when I do the mail merge I get up to 13 decimal places.
I have tried formatting the cells every which way to
Sunday and still no luck.

The issues are not the same, but they can be addressed in the same way -
with a switch on the merge field.
Right click and toggle the field to display the construction.
You should see something like {Mergefield Amount}
Add the switch to produce {Mergefield Amount \# ",$0.00"}
Toggle back and update the field (F9)
You should both see
http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/formatting_word_fields.htm
and in addition Gregg should see the Excel Data section in
http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm which
will explain his problem.

You are going to want to insert a field code. In Word
right click on the mergefield and click toggle field
codes. It may look something like this { MERGEFIELD
price }. Insert \#$0,000 in to change the format. It
would look like this { MERGEFIELD price \#$0,000} You can
play with the 0's or put the decimal where you want it and
you should come out ok. You may just want to put \#$0.00,
I think. Give it a try
