mail notification in Risk / Issue feature

Hi,
In Project Server 2007, Assume we have configured outgoing e-mail settings
(smtp address) in both Sharepoint and Project Server Admin settings.

what is the intended behaviour when a user creates a Risk / Issue in project
workspace in terms of triggering a mail. Does it send a mail to "Assigned to"
person or not?

My requirement is whenever a user creates a Risk / Issue, it should a mail
to the assigned person. Do I need to configure any settings for this?

Satya, the "assigned to" field will send out an email as long as you have set
up outgoing email in SharePoint

Hi Marc,
I've setup outgoing email in sharepoint, but any new/modified risk/issue is
not sending a mail to the "assigned to" user. any pointers to this are
appreciated.

I would like to focus the question
We are using project server 2007
Is it possible to open an issue and that an e-mail will be automatically
generated to the assigned owner without entering the alert me?
Maybe, via the share point central?

Hi,

the answer to your question is yes as per my last post. When you enter a
name in the assiged to within the Risks or Issues, an email will be send to
the assigned resource.

Within the central administration of SharePoint you will need to set up the
outbond email notification. If you have done this, check out the sharepoint
timer serice and see if it is working. Having both working, generally sends
out notification.

I have one customer where the notification does not work. The Alert me
works, but the notification doesnt. I was not able to resolve this one and
have logged a call to Microsoft. yet to hear back why it doesnt work. PS:
This customer has SP1 and Infrastructure update installed.
