Mailto: not working

S

Sal Iaccarino

I have a website that uses several mailto: functions. They use to work fine,
but all of a sudden when I click on them NOTHING HAPPENS?

Any idea what causes them to stop working and what do I do to repair?

They work fine under Windows XP with IE6 / Outlook Express

Glad to hear it is working. However, when I use Firefox browser nothing
happens, used MSIE 7 to access website and I get the following: "Could not
perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly
installed" Outlook Express is my default e-mail program.

Initially it worked, it stopped, it worked again, and stopped as at present.
At one point I was attempting to get rid of any other e-mail client I made
have had such as Thunderbird. However, I have no idea what default mail
client not properly installed means or what to do to correct it.

Thanks,
Sal and Eileen

Sounds like Outlook Express is not installed correctly. FireFox may not
work because no email client is set up for it. This is the problem that
other users will face if they use web mail.

Best solution is to use a form (or forms) for the contacts (requires
server side scripting [asp, php etc.] or FrontPage extensions with email
enabled) - if you can use server side scripting then the email addresses
can be hidden from spammers.
