Many Small Problems

David

I have been constantly fixing many small problems in Project. We are
currently running Project Server 2003 SP1 and using Project Professional 2003
(not SP1) on the workstations. Could this be causing the issues and if so
what type of issues would this version combination cause? I have also read
some things about having different versions of MDAC could cause issues. We
are running 2.8 on our server and 2.71 on our workstations could this be a
source of the issues as well?

TIA

You MUST upgrade each installation of Microsoft Project Professional to SP1
and should upgrade each workstation to MDAC 2.8 if possible. Hope this
helps.

Hi David,

Try posting on the server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project

Dale said it all, but why would you NOT just automatically keep all your
users on all the up-to-date service packs, not just Project but for all your
other software as well? They're free so the cost is very minimal, just the
labour cost of applying the patches, and they're always issued for a reason,
usally to fix a problem. I suggest just consider the maintaining of all
your software to the most current service packs to be just a routine and
non-optional part of the business overheads.

I completely agree! I just wish the department that is responsible for
keeping our computers running agreed (this is the same department that locks
our machines down so we can't update them ourselves). Thanks everyone for
your input. Now I have a bit of ammunition for getting the updates approved.

Thanks
David

Does anyone know of a specific re-creatable issue that is caused from having
SP1 on the server and not on the workstations? I need a specific way to
proove that this is causing an issue.

Thanks.
