Merge forms: how to set values of the original forms so that they don't get used again?

here's the task:

In a sharepoint form library : merge the data from several forms into
one form and submit it into another form library.

since the data from the original forms is stored in the merged form,
we want to avoid confusion and automatically adjust a value in the
original forms, so that the user knows they cannot be used anylonger
for merging.


Or should I simply delete the forms in this forms library?
