Merging Labels

Hello, I'm back with the same question. How do you get labels to merge from
a database on one sheet? Not individual names on one sheet each?
The instructions I have received so far does not work:
1. Under setup page size, create a blank page that is the size of one label.
2. Under Page Setup, select the option "Change Copies per Sheet", Click on
"Multiple Copies Per Sheet".

I still get multiple labels on one sheet with one name????

Sorry Chuck, this does not help me to go to that website. I can't find the
answer I'm looking for. I've got to believe the program can't merge multiple
entries from your data source into individual labels on one sheet.

You mean like an Excel spreadsheet? If so, yes it can.

Have you tried printing a page or are you just looking at a Print Preview?

In this case it's a word database (source). I have tried printing. Every
name is on one full sheet of labels.

Those instruction are correct and if followed will give multiple labels with
individual names. Can you repost with a step by step listing of what you
did? Better yet, if you will send me a copy of the .pub file and sample data
I'll go over it and see what step is missing. It's really a simple procedure
to do what you describe. It shouldn't make any difference if you are using a
plain text file, Word database, or one from Excel. All should work. I prefer
Excel files for my data source, but I've also had to use .csv files and they
work just as well.

Sorry I'm so late getting back. The holidays got busy. Happy New Year! I
went back into Publisher and took the same steps using a Database created in
Excel and it WORKED! Not sure why it works in Excel and not Word, but who
cares. I'm not too impressed with doing my Database in Word anymore. Thanks
for the input!

Hello, I just posted to thank JoAnn for her suggestion to use Excel. It did
work. I went through the same steps using a Word database as the Excel. I
used the Mail Merge Wizard method for merging a label, didn't even have to go
through creating a blank page the size of one label or multiple copies per
sheet. I previewed one name, but when printed it came out one page with
multiple names. I'll go back through both methods using a Word and Excel
database file and write down the steps. Thanks

Hello again, Well I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. To get the
labels to print individually on each Label you must select PRINT in the Mail
and Catalog Merge Task Pane. NOT Create new Publication. When creating a
new Publication each recipient gets a whole sheet of labels. I was use to
creating a new document in Word's Merge (which works) before printing. Oh
Well, guess you can't do that in Publisher. Thanks again!
