Merging Multiple Records into a Directory

I am creating a 2 column-5 row school directory. When the merge pulls the
data from the excel data source, it alphabetizes the entries across then
down. I prefer to alphabetize down the first column, then down the second
column. Does anyone know how I do that? Please help.

What version Publisher? Publisher 2007 can do what you are asking. Earlier
versions you will have to setup your data differently.
Ron Cohen has a sample Excel data base that illustrates the difference.
