message: In calendar: could not open that feature mail error

After 18 months trouble free, my office:mac v.X Entourage has started
giving trouble.
The main worry is when trying to activate calendar when I get the
above error message.
Also, when searching address book I am getting: "the action could not
be completed mail error".
If I persevere in calendar with view/go to/calendar several times I
get a smaller screen version of the calendar display.
In both cases, the underlying data is there, as I can send e-mails to
saved addresses or print the calendar - just not displaying.
Anyone had this problem - or better still, cured it?
I have uninstalled and re-installed the office suite but am still
getting the same problem.

Try rebuilding the database. In Entourage X, first go to Entourage -> Turn
Off Office Notifications. Now, quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage
holding down the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose
to do a Typical Rebuild. If that does not fix the problem, repeat the
procedure, instead opting to do the Advanced Rebuild.
