I have an access data base which I have shared and taken off all locking.
This is so we can have more thanone person in the data base at one time.
The problem is that when you open the database is still locks the files so
no one else can open the file.

Suggest you post to an Access specific ng.
Give your version of Access and perhaps explain specifically what you mean /
which file is locked.
Since in a multi user environment the record opened to edit must be locked

Thanks for your reply I will try an access NG

Just in case you can help.

i am using access 2003 and the whole database locks when some one uses it
not just the records they are working on

It is like the shareing did not work. I have taken the sharingoff and have
shared it again but to no luck.

I've had no need to share thus cannot really help.
I would think taking locking off could lead to a corrupt db.
Have you split the db? - front end/backend -
I'm sure the folks on the access ng's will help
