Microsoft Office Mac 2004

Hi, ( please use this email to reply - (e-mail address removed) )

I bought a used disc for the 2004 office mac. The program appears to
work fine for all my needs except that I have absolutely no function
capability for my files. I cannot delete, rename, move, send to,
drag, click. Just wherever I save them, that's where they
remain...forever.

I have a PowerBook G4, version 10.4.11. Let me know if you need any
more info.

I've searched online and several blogs and I cannot even find where
anyone has had this problem. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Well, first of all, this is a public newsgroup. We don't provide personal
consultative services by way of direct communication unless you're will to
pay our fees :) Replies are to & for the benefit of the group.

You're also likely to have wound up on hundreds of spammer's radar as a
result of having freely offered them your email address. None the less...

Based on the nature of your complaint, however, it sounds like you're a
Windows user unfamiliar with the Macintosh operating system. This is not a
Mac Office issue at all. The Mac OS itself does not permit moving, copying,
deleting or renaming files from within the Save As or Open dialogs provided
to your applications programs. All file management of that nature must be
done in a Finder window. You can, however, create new Folders as you save
files.

I also get the impression that you may not be seeing the whole picture in
your Open & Save As windows. In order to navigate to other folders while
opening or saving files, click the square button to the right of the file
name edit field. That will expand the dialog window.

On a different but related note you may find the Mac101 & Switch101 links on
this page useful;
