"Microsoft Outlook has stopped working"

D

DCollins

I am running Vista Ultimate SP1 with MS Office 2007 on a Dell Dimension 9150
P IV D 3.0 GHz with 4 GB Ram.

I have two occasions when I get this message. One is when I exit Outlook
for any reason. I go to the Menu Bar choose File and choose Exit. I will
then get the message in the subject line.

The second occasion is randomly during the day while I am working on other
projects. The same message will pop up with the option to exit or restart
the program. On restart it says it was not closed properly and does a check
before coming back to full function.

When originally installed I did not get these errors. I beleive that either
a Vista hotfix/patch or an Office 2007 hotfix/patch triggered this to start
happening. Unfortunately I can not determine the cause.

Thank you,
Dennis

I am having the same problem. Most times when I close Outlook 2003 I get the
error message that "Outlook has stopped working" then it itells me Microsoft
will let me know if there is a problem, which it doesn't, then it tells me it
will close the program, which is all I wanted to do in the first place. I am
running Vista Business. I haven't seen a solution to this problem appear on
this site yet.

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click
either the X or Exit and cause the error "Outlook has stopped working...":

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support
for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing
mail.
7. Skype - upgrade to the latest.
8. Infuzer
9. iTunes as of lately

Open Outlook in Safe mode and uncheck all addins (2003-
Tools->Options->Other->Advanced->COM add-ins and/or Add-in Manager.
