I have used publisher since I got my original computer....now with a new
computer I was looking at getting the latest publisher installed.......I
loved the old one and used it for every office need I had.
but I am a little nervous about installing the new version.........
1. does it operate the same way....the same look and prompts, etc.

2. I tried microsoft word and just couldn't get the hang of it........
it is not as user friendly (to me) as publisher.......

3. what are the differences in old and new publisher versions........
thanks,
Lward

If you use endnotes and page notes - stay with Pub97. It is the only MS Pub
(actually the only pub!) which keeps the end and page notes... I use it
since the beginning of time and would not trade it for anything else...

Publisher has had two UI (user interface - the way it looks) since
Publisher 97. Publisher 2007 is coming out in a month or two: I would
wait for that if I were you. The way the program works is essentially
the same; only the way some things look and feel has changed.

Word is good for some things, Publisher is good for others, IMO.

A few:
- New graphics engine (same as Word has had since Word 97) (2002)
- PDF output (2007)
- VBA support (2002)
- Wavy-underline spell checker (98)

Note that if you use Publisher for webdesign work, you would be
well-advised to keep Publisher 97 as well, as since Publisher 2002, the
web output has become more bulky in size (it's come down since 2002, but
it's still larger than 97's output). You'd be even more well-advised to
switch to a dedicated webdesign app such as Microsoft Expression Web
Designer or Nvu.
