Trying to download from Publisher files from disk . Get message saying cannot
load files from a different version. Have Publisher 97.

Were these files created with Publisher 97? If they were, copy them to your hard
drive and try again.
If they are files made with a different version, send them to me and I will convert
them for you.

I've the same problem. To copy my files (made in version 97 under windows
98)on the hard disk of my new PC (windows xp)was not successful. Before doing
so I had installed publisher 97 on my new PC. But my files cannot be be
opened with Publisher 97 though I can see them in the preview box. The t same
issue occurs on my laptop (windows 98) on which I've installed publisher 97
right now. Please send me a mail
([email protected]). After having received your e-mail address I'll
mail one or two files to you for a test of conversion.
May be you have an idea how I can solve my problem in general, since I heard
it be caused by Anti Virus progams.
Thank you in advance.

Norton can be a problem, disable script blocking and in Norton options disable Office
Plug-ins.

I have no Norton, but eTrust. So I guess in my case it has nothing to do with
the Antivirus programm. What else can I do to open my files? And: How can I
send you one of my files for test-converting? This reply box here has no
chance for any attachment.
Shall I post it to you? Then I need your e-mail adress.
Thanks in advance.

Sure you can send me the file
(e-mail address removed)

Look in eTrust options, see if they have a "script blocking" option.
