Microsoft word / multiple word doc's

Opening multiple word doc's.

At work I am using WinXP Pro and I can have several
Microsoft word doc's open with each one showing up on my
lower taskbar. At home I use WinXP Home, there, if I open
a new word doc it overlays itself on top of the one I was
using. I need to have multiple doc's open for me to work
because I cut and paste from several documents to create
one.
Does anyone know what the settings should be in Microsoft
Word to make my home computer act like my work computer?

Check or uncheck multiple windows in task bar.

Is the option for later than WORD2000? I am using
WORD2000 and when I look at the dialog for Options I do
not have anything about windows and task bars.

That is exactly where I do not have anything
about "Windows in Taskbar".

I have WORD2000 and when I go to Tools | Options | View
I do not have any references or check boxes that
say "Windows in Taskbar". My question was if this is
something in later versions of WORD.

You're right, that is an option only in Word 2002 and 2003. Word 2000
is the first Word version to use the "single document interface".
According to Microsoft Knowledge Base article 230684, SDI cannot be
turned off in Word 2000. Sorry for misguiding you.

Opening multiple windows in MS Word
First (While in word) try tools > options > view. If you
are like me there will not be anything there to check for
multiple windows.
What I did was open "My Computer" under folder options >
file types (wait for down-load, then scroll down to DOC.)
MS Word Document - highlight by single clicking on
Microsoft word document > click Advance (check box) Browse
in same window. Actions should have "New, Open, Print,
Printto". I don't know if it makes a difference but the
word "Open" (in mine) is in bold letters.
Last thing, when you open a document, you must minimize
that window before opening a second one. After that you
can switch between the two.
