Microsoft Word setting

Please I need some help,
I am using the Microsoft word and trying to use all the
program facilities . But sometimes I go against the .as. wall
of it.
Now i am in that condition . I go around and around the Word
windows in order to discover where is the hidden setting to
solve my problem, with the result to go to sleep going around
and around the same problem.
And now <<THE PROBLEM>>
When I use the minus sign (--------) repeatedly to separate
different parts of my job, it assume ,I don't know what, and
put a line of equal sign(======) that I am not able to cancel,
or move out of the page.
All of that is not so tragic , but push me to abandone the
Word program, to stop <The Backspace Mambo With
Microsof Word> as defined by the Consult Beth Melton.

If you go to Tools then Auto Correct, has someone put a

minus sign or two in the replace column and an = sign in
the with column? That is my only thought.
