mid-project delay?

Is "Lag Time" or a "Start No Earlier Than" date the best way to
constrain a mid-project schedule delay?

This is a question I fielded from one of the PMs at my company earlier
today. This PM asks this question because he's had a project begin,
then be placed on hold.

Thanks!

I would add a new milestone at the top of the schedule saying Project
Re-started and set its date to best guess for when the project re-starts.
Link the milestone to the first task to start on restart. You will need to
split partially completed tasks into 100% and remaining tasks so all
remaining work can re-schedule into the future.

Hi Crook,

I suggest applying all of the tracking data (actual work, remaining
work, etc.) to the project plan. Then choose Tools > Tracking > Update
Project, rescheduled uncompleted work to start after....and apply the
new "start" date of the remaining tasks.

That will take any task or any portion of the task that has not been
complete and move it to start (in relation to the other task links) to
commence on the new "start" date.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
