Missing Envelope Icon

I have a user that does not receive an envelope icon when she has a new
message arrive in her inbox or any other folder for that matter.

She is running Outlook 2000

Any help is appreciated

Did you check the box in Tools/Options/Advanced Email
options/Display a New Mail Desktop Alert

I have checked this but she doesn't want a dialogue box alert everytime. Is
this linked to the envelope icon?

You can actually set only the show an envelope icon in
the notification area option and the user will only have
a small envelope in the system tray and it will remain
there until she opens the e-mail, but there will not be a
notification in the middle of the screen everytime she
receives an e-mail.

I can see this option on a PC running Outlook 2003 but have been unable to
see this in Outlook 2000

Can you give me any pointers please

I have checked the options on a 2000 workstation and the
envelope in the system tray is the default, there is no
option to check or uncheck. I would suggest you do a
repair of the Outlook installation.
