mistakenly uninstalled Office components

I tried to install design templates for Powerpoint only, but mistakenly
uninstalled everything else in Office 2003. Word files are still visible,
but appear as WordPad documents because Word has been uninstalled. Can I be
assured the Word files and other data stored/created with Office programs
will not be lost if I reinstall Office? I'm in a panic. Thanks.

First of all calm down. Next be assured that
installing/uninstalling Office will have no effect on your
data files. If you want to be absolutely certain and safe,
copy all your data files to another folder, hard drive, or
CD. (Backing them up regularly is something you should be
doing anyhow.)

You were right, everything was restored with a reinstallation from the CD.
