More problems

I've started using the Work column to track work - however, I've now found
new problems.

1) For some reason the hours are not totaling up on the upper level tasks. I
have hours plugged in, but it is still showing '0' hours on all upper level
tasks above.

2) It seems that my predescessors are not functioning properly. Is there a
general "Do / Don't do" for using the linking function?

BobA:

Sounds like the calculation mode may be set to manual when you want to be
driving an automatic.

Open the hood, then Tools > Options > Calculation > Calculation Mode.

Then fire that puppy up and see if it works.

Thanks RD,

That fixed the totalling problems, but for some reason the predecessors are
not working on some of my tasks. I've linked, unlinked, linked, cleared/set
the Constraint Type to 'Start as soon as Possible', but when I redo the
links, the dates stay the same even though there are more than several days
worth of work total.

Hi Bob,

I remember you once used Actual Woirk.
That sets an Actual Start, and Actual Start doesn't move whatsoever.
Project will always recalculate your plan but it will simply accept what you
enter as past history (everything labeled Actual)
Select all tasks, select the Task Information button, set %complete to 0.
Hope this helps,

Thanks, but that is not the case.

I have the 'Work' column up as well as 'Duration', 'Start', and 'Finish'.

The linking of lines before and the lines after are working just fine. It is
just a set of rows (maybe 10 or so) that will not link and play well together.

In the 'Predecessor' line it shows the linking, but the rows are not
reacting like linked rows should.

Please help

Hi Bob,

Not being a mind reader, I have to ask you to send me the file with the
identification of the questionable lines to

jandemesATprom-ade.be

Hope this helps,
