Mouse-over notes

George Wilson

I am using Word XP on a Windows XP system. Is there any
way to create mouse-over notes in Word that work like the
notes in Excel? Can Word be set up to do this? Are there
any add ins out there that may do this?
TIA
George

George, Comments in Word work much like they do in Excel. Select some text
and Insert > Comment (this is in Word 2000; may be slightly defferent in
2002). Type the text of your comment in the comment window (at the bottom of
the screen in 2000), then click the Close button at the top of the comment
window. The text you selected will be highlighted. To view the comment, rest
your mouse cursor on the highlighted text.

Unfortunately, this does *not* work the same way in Word 2002. Although the
popup may be displayed in Normal view (I don't remember), in Print Layout
view it is displayed in a "balloon" in the margin, and the text is not
highlighted, just surrounded by hard-to-see brackets. The highlighting part
has been corrected in Word 2003, which also displays popups (with or without
balloons) in both views.
