How do I move tasks from future areas on the schedule to past areas, even
though the tasks are not started?? tasks are 0% complete

Determine what is stopping them being moved:
- Remove any linkages keeping them in the future (you shouldn't be able
to do this if you have a real network diagram with valid links)
- Remove levelling
- Remove any constraints keeping them in the future

Why do you want to do this?

I have inherited an unattended schedule and now need to pull dates in line
with the truth...bring current all tasks left flapping in the wind.

Hi Ken,

This post seems to be conflicting with the original post. Do you
want to take tasks which are incomplete that are in the past and
move them to start on the current date or take tasks that are
scheduled in the future and put them in the past? If it's the
second, Dave gave you the correct answer -- remove predecessors or
constraints which have placed the tasks in the future. A task
without predecessors or constraints should be scheduled for the
original start date of the project.

If you want to take tasks which are scheduled in the past that are
incomplete and move them to start on the current date then choose
Tools > Tracking > Update Project, Reschedule uncompleted tasks to
start on....

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
