Moving a task list from Excel

Hi John,

You have several options:

You could copy the names of the task(s) and durations(s) and paste into a
Project file. Project will then calculate the start and finish dates of the
tasks based upon the start date (or end date) of the Project as set in
Project>Project information and the Project calendar. You could then use
Project to create the links between the tasks. I do not recommend copying
the Start and Finish dates from the Excel file and pasting into the Start
and Finish dates in Project as this will create constraints.

You could also open the file in Project and then create a map to map the
Excel columns into the Project fields. Again, I would not import any dates
into the Start and Finish fields in Project as this will create constraints.

Let us know if you need specific directions on either method. Hope this
helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you, JUlieS. I'll give both a try.
