Moving Office XP from one machine to another

I recently bought a new PC and would like to move my Office XP from an older
machine to the new machine. The copy of Office XP is an upgrade version. When
I went to try to move some of Office XP (Excel and Access) from the old
machine to the new machine I first uninstalled Access and Excel from the old
machine then tried to install them into the new machine using the Office XP
setup disk. I got an error during setup stating that the setup could not find
any qualifying products on the new machine. I then mapped a drive on the new
machine to point to a version of Microsoft Works on the old machine via the
network and thought the Office setup could see that drive but it could not. I
do have a version of Microsoft Works on the new machine (version 8.0) but it
didn't seem to qualify for putting the Office XP upgrade on the new machine.
Any help would be appreciated.
