mpd coruption maybe - unique ids

Hi there. We have 6 projects in an mpd Project Database. We have a couple
of custom fields that we use to link data between Project and Access to
generate some reports from Access.
Recently we copied and pasted tasks between projects that are in the mpd and
within projects in the mpd.
Now our queries are doubling some of the data. It seems to be related to
the unique id.
I re-created mpps from the mpd file, then re-saved them as projects in a new
mpd file thinking that the unique ids etc would all be re-created and
generated. Didn't work.
Is there another way to re-create the mpd with new and not corrupted Unique
ids?. I've done all the normal compact and repair routines.

Thanks in advance!!
Marty

Before editing any data in a .mpd read, digest then make sure you thoroughly
understand the prjdb.htm file in one of Project's program folders (or on the
CD). Failure to set any required flag can cause project corruption. Don't
edit any data for any proejct without first taking a copy of the .mdb file.

If you can open a project then do what you have done, re save into another
file. All unique ids will be created, but new ones, not necessarily the
original ones.

Hi Rod,
thanks for the response. This is driving me crazy.
When I recreate the files and save into another mpd, it holds on to the
original Unique Ids which (some, not all) are duplicated accross the projects
now. I'm assuming they got duplicated when we copied and pasted tasks from
one project to another??
All of this copying and pasting was done in Project, not in the raw
tables... definitely know not to go there!
Any other suggestion to get to new Unique IDs in a multi-project mpd file?

Thanks!
Marty

Unique ids are unique within the sub project only. Copy paste tasks in
Project and the pasted tasks get new unique IDs. There will always be a
unique id=1 in every project. If you need a unique ID for any Task in any
project create it by having a project number. In your first project create a
formula that's =10000+[UniqueID]. In the next project have a formula
20000+[UniqueID] and so on.
