why can i not open mpd files

I have just installed ms project 2003 standard and I have come up against an
error I cannot explain. I am unable to open any project saved as an mpd file.
I can open project, string 4 tasks together, save as an mpd and close. Then
when i try to open the file, the import wizard appears (normal) but once the
project is selected, I get the error "the file could not be opened". At this
point the MS access file remains on the desktop and is locked (not normal).
Even deleting this access file does not solve the problem.

Please help - it is interfearing with my work!!

Hi,

First thing to do is download and install SP2 for Project 2003 from the
Microsoft.com site. This fixes a number of problems. If it doesn't fix your
problem, please detail the steps needed for us to try and duplicate your
problem. Good Luck!
