Here is an interesting problem (I think). I recently installed MS Office
2003 on a Win 2003 server. Next, I installed a component of a leading Content
management system app to this server. This is an upgrade version of the SW
that we currently run in Production (using Office 2002, SP2).
Anyway after installing the SW, the Content Management SW tries to start
WORD and EXCEL. They both close abruptly, stating there was an unexpected
error. Surprised by this, I performed a little test. I scheduled the
invocation of a command prompt window, by the SYSTEM user(using DOS 'at'
command). Sure enough, when I tried to start WORD from this window, it also
failed. This is significant because often we perform this procedure(start
WORD from a SYSTEM user command prompt) on the production server. On the PROD
server there are no problems starting WORD/EXCEL as SYSTEM or as a standard
user. On the new server, we can start WORD using a normal user, but not as
SYSTEM...I have this funny feeling that something on the server is not
configured right (missing security policy modification??) Is there a server
version of OFFICE SW as compared to a version for standard userid's?
Has anyone seen this problem before? Any advice?

Chris
