MS Outlook and MS Word versions do not match (Office 2002)

I have one user who cannot make MS Word his email editor - due to message: MS Outlook & MS Word versions do not match. I checked the versions on this workstation and 5 others - all are displaying - MS Outlook 2002 (10.4712.4219) SP-2; for MS Word 2002, the version is (10.5815.4219) SP-2. Yet, I am able to set MS Word as the default editor on the other workstations. I have performed Office updates but still no luck. Any suggestions?
