MS Outlook Problem

Hi all,

I have a problem where MS Outlook '98 wouldn't show new
mail until I selected a different folder in Outlook.

ie. If I was in my calendar, and someone sent me an email,
it wouldn't show as (1) unread message beside the inbox
until I clicked on for example Sent items (I use that as
an example, but could've clicked on any folder).

I have "notfiy when new mail arrives" checked, but even if
I'm staring right at the Inbox, and someone sends me mail,
I need to click another folder. If I send myself mail and
login to another PC, it shows in that outlook, but not my
own PC.

I've re-installed Outlook, and then upgraded it to 2000,
neither fixed the problem.

I'm finding it tough to search online, because it's a very
particular kind of problem.

If anyone has dealt with this before, your help would be
appreciated.
