MS Project - Milestones

Hi,

Like any other task :)
Double-click, put 100% compelte in task information or
Insert the %complete column, enter 100 or
Show the tracking toolbar, select the muilestone, click 100%
Hope this helps,

A milestone is often a gate or a checkpoint like "proposal approved" or
"response received." How would Project know if it's been passed without you
manually inputting something to tell it it has?

Hi Jan,

The other tasks are set up to track the progress, so the bar is full when it
is 100%. Can I 'Format Bar Styles' for the milestone in the same way I did
the progress on the tasks? Or do I need to manually fill in the milestone
after taking it to 100%?
Thanks for your help

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your input. I plan on manually filling in the % Complete column.
Just wondering if I can format the bar styles so it automatically colors the
dot when I show progress at 100%

Right click on the Gantt chart.
Choose Bar Styles...
In the dialog box, select any row that is BELOW the row that contains the
Milestone format definition.
Click Insert Row
Give your new style a name, such as Complete Milestone
Under the Bars tab, select no shape for the Start and Middle columns; select
the milestone shape for the End column. Set Type to Solid and color as you
wish.
In Show for ... Tasks, select Milestone.
In both the From and To columns, select Actual Finish.
Click OK.
Any milestone that is 100 percent complete will have the new style.
