MS-Project Server 2007: open a server file

I am able to open files, which are stored on local drive by
WinProj /s <servername> filename
It fails, if the file is only stored on the server. I got an error "Project
cannot open File".
I saw a post using server.mdb\filename instead of only using the filename.
I assume it means that by accessing the server a local copy of the database
file is written in a temp directory on the local drive.
My problem is: I can't see this mdb.
How does it work with MS-Project server 2007?

I solved the problem. The solution has been described already somewhere else.
The trick is to use <>\ in front of the filename and not using a mpp suffix
