MS Word 2003 doc to Adobe PageMaker convertation

Hello experts.

Often, we need to convert .Doc files (From MS Word 2003) to PageMaker.
Unfortunately, this convertation does not work for MS Word 2003 doc format.
So we need firstly to convert files to another format - for example, rtf.

May be there are easier ways to perform the task?

I know Adobe Acrobat had to be upgraded to latest version (6.0) due to
compatibility issues, perhaps the same is true for Pagemaker.
