MS Word freezing up when trying to rename file in Open Panel

When trying to rename a document in the open field by
highlighting the document I want to remane and right
clicking that document, my machine freezes up and
requires me to End Task until MS Word closes down.
Anyone know why? Please email me at (e-mail address removed) if
you have any ideas.
