MSPUB2003-How do I turn off all default showing of all task panes?

When I open MS Publisher 2003, it defaults with a left task pane. Going to
Tools, Options, General Tab, etc., and also turning off the wizard had no
effect. How do I turn off all default showing of all task panes so that the
only time I have to close a task pane is when I opened it to use? It's a
small thing, but annoying to close it each and every time I open Publisher. -
