MSWord is locked

Word will open, but I can't type. My document is not protected. I can't even
get to the Forms toolbar to use the protection option using View and
Toolbars. Toolbars is greyed out. I'm having the same problem in Excel
although I can get to Toolbars in Excel.

Please help me with any advice you may have.

Have you activated Word? What happens if you go to Help | Activate Product?
