Multiple calendars

I have groups in the US and Taiwan who have different holiday schedules. How
do I assign different working days to the different groups, other than
changing working days individually for each resource?

I'm running MS Project 2000 on XP Pro.

Thanks

Open your project and click Tools - Change Working Time. On the Standard
calendar, set all of the US holidays as non-working time for the next couple
of years or so. Click the New Calendat button, create a totally new
calendar (not a copy of the Standard calendar) and name the new calendar
"Taiwan" or something like that. On the Taiwan calendar, enter all of the
Taiwanese holidays as non-working time, again for the next couple of years
or so. Click OK when finished.

Click View - Resource Sheet. In the Base Calendar column for each team
member, set the Standard calendar for US workers, and set the Taiwan
calendar for Taiwanese workers. This action will put the correct holidays
on each resource's personal calendar. When you assign resources to tasks,
the resource's calendar will determine the schedule of the task. Hope this
helps.

jzingman,
Since you're talking about holidays and not vacation or other similar
personal time off, you should create separate project calendars for each
location. One calendar (to be used for tasks performed in the US) is for
US holidays and the other calendar (to be used for tasks performed in
Taiwan) is for Taiwanese holidays.

Hope this helps.

Dale:

Thanks. I figured it was something like that, but I hadn't noticed the new
calendar button on the change working time window (possibly not the most
intuitive place for it).
