Multiple Projects

How do I track 10-20 unrelated projects and be able to allocate and
re-allocate resources and generate one report. Is Project capable of this or
is it only able to focus on one project at a time?

Hi,

You can create temporary consolidations (don't link when inserting each
project and all resources assignments are consolidated: record a macro to
repeat this quickly and easily)
or create a resource pool in project,
or save all projects to a database and report across them all with what ever
database tool you like or you can use on of many 3rd party tools (see
www.mvps.org/project/ for a list of some)
or use Microsoft Project Server.

Hi Sideshow Bob,

I assume your 10-20 projects all use the same common resources. Look in
Help in Project for "resource pools". Once you have created the resource
pool and shared the resources to the multiple project files you can create a
consolidated project file to print reports showing resource's task across
the multiple projects.

You may also wish to read Mike Glen's series of Project articles at:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23
or
http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc

Articles 17 & 18 specifically address resource pools.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
