My date doesn't change when I link two tasks

I have created a schedule and saved the baseline. I am now trying to change
/ update some of the links. When I enter a new predecessor, my date does not
change. If you have any suggestions, I would be most greatful.

Hi,

You could verify the following:

-Tools, Options, Calculation, is calculation set to automatic?
- Don't the immovable tasks have a strong constraint such as Must... or
....No Later than? these are stronger than links
- Don't the immovable tasks have an Actual start date?

Hi Jan,

I have checked and it is set to automatic update.
The constraint is "As soon as possible"
If you go to Tools, Tracking, Update Tasks, there was no actual start date
in the box.
Any other suggestions?

Just an obvious one..; you say "my date doesn't change"
Which date exactly?
Start? Then we indeed have a problem
But aren't you looking at Baseline Start? That one obviously doesn't change.

One more question. Do tasks react to other instructions such a Must start on
constraints?
Or is it just this task?
Does the task have a calendar?

When I enter a predecessor for a task neither the start nor the finish dates
change for the subtasks that are linked to the one where the predecessor was
just input.
I have not tried to change the constraints but they are all set at "As soon
as possible".
The entire project is set with a calendar.

How are you telling the software that the new task is a predecessor?
Are you linking them?

I am trying to link task 55 with task 70. On line 70 in the predecessor
column I put in 55 which is supposed to link the dates. When I change the
date on task 55 the task date for line 70 should also move.
