My text box font keeps changing without request Powerpoint 2003

I'm using Powerpoint 2003 and am typing into a presentation I created last
week. When I try to add or change the text in my various text boxes, the
font keeps changing, though I did not tell it to. How can I make this stop
doing it?

Is the actual font face changing, or is it just the size of the text?

The actual font is changing. I had it set to Times New Roman and every time
I start to type new text it changes it to MSPGothic. There is a background
template applied, but I have never had this happen before whether a template
was applied or not, so I can't figure out how to make it stop happening.

Some additional info - other people using the same template have not had this
issue. I also have a copy of the one chart I'm currently working for as a
separate file, with no template at all, and it's doing the same thing.

Wow, I have no idea.

MSPGothic is a Japanese font. Does that spark any recognition?

Perhaps the others don't actually *have* MSPGothic installed, so PPT is
automatically substituting TNR for them, and that's why you're the only one
to see it happen.

If you go to Format/Replace Fonts on one of your coworkers' machines, is
MSPGothic on the list of fonts used in the presentation?

Oh, you might try using one of the techniques discussed in the following FAQ
to remove it:
This presentation might contain Far East (or Asian) text and formats that
PowerPoint can't display
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00287.htm

After you've removed this font, make a textbox and format the text the way
you want it. Then select it and go to Format/Font and check "default for new
objects." Also make sure to check and change the placeholders on your slide
master(s).
