I am using Word 2002 and whenever I put pictures in to a document, they dont
show up then sometimes they do, then sometimes only half the pictures show
up. I have made sure in the tools, options, that pictures ARE meant to be
displayed but this hasnt helped. Is it my version of Word? please help!

This is an increasingly common problem with some recent hardware and is
caused by inadequacies in the display driver. Check the web site of the
display adapter manufacturer for a display driver update and/or reduce the
display's hardware acceleration

That sounds good to me -but excuse my ignorance - what is the display driver,
and how would I find out who the manufacturer is? Is it my computer or word
itself? Can you help me any further?? thanks so much x

The display adapter is the part of the computer that causes the images to
appear on your screen. It can either be part of the motherboard of the
computer or it can be contained in a plug-in card. If you check Windows
control panel > system > hardware > device manager > display adapters, the
details of the adapter will be listed. Check the manufacturer's web site eg
Intel, ATI, Nvidia etc for a driver to match the adapter.

Graham is overthinking this. What the hell is a "Word MVP" anyway? It is
likely not a display driver problem at all. His suggestion doesn't make
any sense whatsoever.
When MS work inserts pictures it locks them in line with text as the
default, and this will sometimes push pictures behind other objects
[why you are only seeing half or none at all]. The answer is to right
click on the half of the picture you can see or immediately after going
through the insert command [even if it does not appear there this should
pick it up[ and select "format picture" and go into the "layout" tab and
select either in front of text or behind
As for testing this crap, most software engineers and manufacturers
should be hiring someone at the user level who understands this
software in totality for user functionality. I know more than most MS
certified trainers do.
Hardware... blah! I hope you didn't spend good money on a new video
card or reformat your drive. "Increasingly common problem..."
HAHAHAHAH. Good luck. Cheers, N

A Word MVP is someone who Microsoft acknowledges as someone who generally
knows what he/she is talking about, and knows enough about communication to
insert the previous correspondence in the message so everyone else can see
what the thread is all about.

Disappearing graphics are a common problem in Word which imposes heavy
demands on the screen driver. Some recent drivers have not been up to the
job. Before investigating obscure causes, the likely ones are the ones to
suggest to the hapless user.

Spending money on display adapters and reformatting the hard drive are
figments of your imagination. They formed no part of any advice I offered.

Despite your self professed wealth of knowledge I doubt that this piece of
advice will add much to your employment prospects.
