Mystery line HELP!

We have a 7 page document with a mystery line which we can not delete. The
line looks like a box that has no depth. When we put the cursor on the line
the cursor changes to a line with an up & down arrow. eg

Wonder how the above will show on your screen :-(. We can not select the
line ... HELP! TIA
