need help emailing document with pictures as attatchment

I have a Word document I inserted pictures in. I emailed the document
without a problem to a couple of friends. Now when I try to add it as an
attatchment it will not work....page pops up saying something about no web
connecyion.....but I still have my internet connection. Can anyone help?
