Need help to revise a Word Template

C

ChasGo

I checked the template. The blue is simple "shading" in
table cells. To change it, put your insertion point in the
blue cell and use Format>Borders and Shading | Shading.
But *wait.* Before you pick a new color, make sure
the "Apply to" drop down list (below the preview area)
shows "Cell," otherwise you'll shade the whole table with
your new color.

If you want to change the picture in the upper left corner
to match your new color scheme, either insert new clipart
or edit the colors of the existing clipart. To do this,
select it, choose "ungroup" from the drawing toolbar and
change the blue pieces to your new color. [When you
ungroup, it may pop out of the cell, but don't panic, just
de-select it, select and edit those pieces you're editing,
then regroup the whole thing and drag it back.
The "Layout" formatting of the picture is "In front of
text," should you wish to restore that editing].

With regard to the NL[XX] styles, suffice to say styles
are an important part a "template." Learn about styles and
templates and save yourself much angst.

Hello.

I downloaded an e-mail newsletter template from
http://office.microsoft.com/templates/preview.aspx? AssetID=TC010219711033&CTT=1&Origin=EC790000701033&QueryID=
D4v43_SlZ0&Query=e-mail+newsletter&Scope=TC

It uses a table in MS Word. Although it is cumbersome
trying to get the left column to stay in sync with the
right column when there is more information in the right
column, it creates a beautiful newsletter that I can print
out for those who are offline and then save as a webpage
and e-mail to the online members of my group.
The default colors are blue background on the top cell
and left cell with white letters. The right cell is white
background with blue letters. Embedded in the drop down
style menu are NL Header 1, NL Header 2 and some other NL
options. When I finish one section of text, I can pull
this menu down and choose NL Header 2 and it will put a
blue line above "Header" and I can change the words and
font size to my next header. My first question is, how
did they get that NL stuff in there?
And the problem is, how do I change the color of it? It
is blue. Because March has St Patrick's Day, I would like
to make this newsletter green. I know how to change th
color of the border, the cells background and text, but
not the line that is inserted above the text when using
the header.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to make a
better e-mail/printed newletter than using this template,
please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the reply, ChasGo.

You explained everything I knew, but didn't help me out with the styles. Where do you suggest I go to learn about them and how to create and edit them?

Geesh, I knew I shouldn't have allowed my e-mail address to be displayed in that first message. I've received three messages with I-Worm/Swen.A. from "Microsoft Security" since I posted this message. Yes, I know it's not from MicroSoft, just someone claiming to be. Everyone needs to make sure their Anti Virus programs are up-to-date and running.
