need help with status reports

We have a couple of questions -

1) What is the best way to terminate (close) a standing
status report request, in that once a project is finished,
it makes sense to end the status reports for that.

2) What is the archive and how does it work? We have
noticed that if we "Delete a status report" (to close out
of a reoccuring report), it does not "archive" it, and we
seem to lose it somewhere...

3) Bottom line, what is the preferred way to administer
status reports, opening, and closing them...

Thanks,

David

1) Under Request Status Report there is an option to delete the requested
reports. This removes the report but does not delete the history.

2) The archive is simply a list of reports ever sent (by login) and
available for review. Reports can be deleted when they are no longer
required, they need to be deleted by the sender and requestor, or admin can
delete them centrally by sender.

Once reports are deleted they cannot be recovered from an "archive"

3) Bottom line - individuals administer their status reports

David,

The process we use is for the project manager to create a
status report with some standard internally defined
sections at the project beginning. When the project is
over and everyone agrees it is over, the PM deletes the
status report request.

During the life of the project, the Project Manager will
weekly open the consolidated report and then use the Zoom
button to create an archivable version.

This function opens the status report in a new window as
an HTML file. The PM can then save this to their
department sharepoint site or some other location for long
term keeping. This also enables the requester to email
this version to someone else, such as someone external to
Project Server.

You may be able to create a script to call this function
automatically and save it to a known location. We haven't
gotten that far yet.
