New computer cannot install old Publisher program...

B

B. Watson

I purchased a Dell computer a few years ago which
included Microsoft Office 2000 in the package. That
program also included Microsoft Publisher which I used
often in our business. My computer crashed a few months
ago and it could not be repaired. I lost everything. I
have since purchased a Gateway computer. I have tried to
install my old Microsoft Publisher from my old computer
disk onto the new but it will not except the registration
number that I written on a label on the disk. How can I
download this? I would really appreciate help in this
matter as I can't even open my copies of documents I use.

Microsoft cannot help you and Dell will not help you. The software was Dell
OEM software and cannot be installed on another computer. How do you like
that for a rip-off.

You will need to buy a new program.

It's only a rip-off if you are not warned of that in advance, however,
an OEM EULA explains that to you. --

Yeah, Brian and you read every little word in the EULA - crapiola.

IT IS A DISGUSTING RIP-OFF and major abuse of power.
Never try and defend the indefensible!!!

Actually, I have read the Publisher EULA's. Sorry David, but just because
you don't read the EULA doesn't mean you don't have to abide by the rules.
EULA's are in almost all software apps with such limitations. --

Must be a geek thing. I've read MS's EULA as well. boring as all get
out but it's interesting to read what rights you do and don't have when
you purchase their software.

Yes, I have only read the Publisher EULA :)

Brian,

I've read a few of them. There was one program I had, I don't rmember
which one, whose EULA said I had to destroy the old version within 30
days or so after loading the new version. I admit it, I violated the
agreement. Why? Because the new program was an upgrade and it searched
the computer for a previous version (I think this was Win98 but may have
been 95 - I later got 98SE) and it was a PITA to have to rename a file
to get it to work.

You do know Mike, that I now need to report you to the EULA police.

Brian,

I'm not stupid enough to post that I committed a crime - unless the
statute of limitations has kicked in. :) But I still have my MS Word
6.0 disks, including a copy of the first disk, just in case I suddenly
have a need to install it more than once!

Cerridwen and other multitude personalities how about you tell us what your
real disability is.
Look, I have more money than I know what to do with. I could not spend it
all in a lifetime.
Next year I am retiring and going permanently travelling.

Cerridwen/Mental Defective/MagRat/Haggard Witch/Black Allis/Amethyst/Sarah
etc. and whatever you are calling all your multi-personalities disorders
today, nobody here other than a failed dummy like you that is a declared
invalid in more ways than one will be happy. However, I will be going
nowhere from here as been so disgustingly filthy rich I have satellite
internet and all services wherever I go.

Cerridwen/Mental Defective/MagRat/Haggard Witch/Black
Allis/Amethyst/Sarah/Invalid Dummy etc. how come you do not declare all your
invalid problems and why you are on an invalid pension. Only the Blitishers
would put up with stuff like you. Euthanasia is a definitive system that
rids the world of the weak and failed.
I can't believe the crap I write at times, but nevertheless it is factual
and should be taken as government policy in all countries. One day you will
realise the more you wind me up the more responsive I am. It is like sport
to me. Stop doing it and I don't retaliate.

Cerridwen/Mental Defective/MagRat/Haggard Witch/Black Allis/Amethyst/Sarah
etc. and whatever you are calling all your multi-personalities disorders
today, you are the registered invalid mental defective that should be
incarcerated. Pity your mother at birth did not save everybody the trouble
and Blitisher taxpayers you sponge off and cheat.
