No data displayed for custom field in task view

Context: Project Server 2003 with PWA. We are using the 'Enterprise
Task Number5" custom field to calculate a number for "% Should be
Complete", which we use to give an indication of how much the %
complete of a given task should be on a given day. I've added the
field in the task view where our PWA users update their tasks but no
data is displayed in the field/column in PWA. If I open the project
within Project Pro, I am able to see the data in the field.

I'm not sure if this was the right step to take but in both the
project and the Enterprise Global, I went to Tools... Customize...
Published Fields... and made sure that the custom field is included in
the "Fields in the Tasks View" but the data still doesn't show up in
PWA.

Thanks for the help in advance!

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
after adding the custom field to the Enterprise Global file, you must ask
each PM to open every one of their projects, to press the F9 function key in
each project to recalculate the project (and the value in the custom field),
and then save and publish the project using Collaborate - Publish - All
Information. Doing so will "push" the custom field data to PWA. Adding the
custom field to the Publish Fields list in the Enterprise Global serves no
purpose, by the way. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks for the help. In the future I'll post to the server group.

Update: I had each of the PM's update (F9) and republish their open
projects and the custom fields still show up blank. Am I missing
something?

Thanks,

Patrick

I think I should do a better job of reading your original message. You
stated that you "task view where our PWA users update their tasks" (which is
the View My Tasks page in PWA). I wrongly assumed you were trying to see
the fields in a detailed Project view.

Here's what you need every PM to do:

1. Open an enterprise project
2. Click Tools - Customize - Published Fields
3. Add the two custom fields to the list on the right side of the dialog
4. Click the OK button
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments and then click OK
6. Save and close the project
7. Repeat this process for every enterprise project that he/she manages

The above steps will "push" the data from the Microsoft Project plan to each
user's timesheet in PWA. If you intend to use these two custom fields
permanently in the View My Tasks page, then you should edit all of your
enterprise project templates and add the two fields to the list of Published
fields. I apologize if I wasted your time on the first answer. Hope this
helps.
