Running a file search from explorer causes non-terminating dialog box loop
requesting "Insert the 'Microsoft Office Professional' disk and click OK."
Clicking "Cancel" causes a cyclical message dialog box deadlock that can only
be circumvented via system power down.
Essentially this is how it happens:
1. File search from explorer triggers the following dialog box:
Dialog Title: "Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"
Dialog contents: "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000
Professional"
Buttons: "Cancel"
Which invokes a second dialog box:
"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"
"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk
that is not available.
"Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 Professional' disk and click OK.
"Use feature from:
"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"
Buttons: "OK", "Cancel", "Browse"
The most obvious solution is to insert that CD-ROM. However not having it
handy means I need to reboot to break the recursive loop because canceling
has no effect on the outcome. Is there a registry setting I can use to turn
this trigger feature off?
Thanks,
